Join Our Upcoming Parent Council Meeting!

 Calling all families with children under 5: Come join us for a family council meeting! 

Maybe you have been enjoying ECFE for years. Maybe you've never made it to a class. Maybe you have thoughts about the program you'd like to share. Maybe you just want to come talk to other adults for an hour. Any reason is fine, we'd love to see you!

March 2024 Meeting Minutes

UPDATE: April meeting date is April 17th due to the Eid holiday!

 

Here are the meeting minutes for the Family Council meeting held on March 13th 2024 at the Wilder building in south Minneapolis (Google Docs).

Quick recap

This month much of the discussion focus on two end-of-year events:  Teacher Appreciation Week and the End of Year ECFE Picnic.  The first one is in May, the second in June, so planning for them can feel a little early, but in reality it is only 1 more regular meeting of the Family Council before May.

Please see the meeting minutes, but just real quick:

Teacher Appreciation week is May 6th - 10th.  An email has been sent out to ECFE-enrolled families with details of how they can contribute individually. If you are interested in working with the Family Council to do more, please reach out to john.w.jones89@gmail.com!

The End-of-Year ECFE Picnic is Friday June 7th, from 5pm to 7pm.  It is hosted in the North Mississippi Regional Park, at the playground and splash pad.  Minneapolis Parks will have a naturalist from the Kroening Nature Center there, and in addition to the playground and splash pad we will have a coloring table, have a 'drop-in' story time, and popsicles.

 Finally, we also discussed some needed organizational improvements (mostly related to filing paperwork) to target in the 2024-2025 school year.  We adjourned on time to a beautiful evening.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is at the Mona Moede building in north Minneapolis on April 17th.  Starting at 5:30pm there is a free meal provided for families, and the meeting starts at 6:00pm.

Mona Moede is served by Metro Transit's D Line Bus Route.  Entrance is on South side of the building, where 23rd Ave N and Girard Ave intersect.

The fliers for the Parents as Sexuality Educators class are out.  Tuesday February 13th, 6pm to 7pm at the Wilder Complex Auditorium (3345 Chicago  Ave S, Minneapolis 55407, enter through Door 2 off Chicago Ave). 

This class is for parents and caregivers of young children (ages 0 to 5), and doesn't require enrollment in any ECFE classes-- it is open to all.  Learn how to discuss early sexual development and talk with your children about their bodies in safe and open ways.
